a social initiative turned startup - staffchahiye.com (we also had thestaffcompany.com before it expired, same product), where we tried to help blue collar workers actually get hired in the fragmented HoReCa (Hotel Restaurant Cafe) industry. Millions of people are in that bracket in india & we can’t fix all of it, but we thought we could do something with technology. The origin was partly my friends at BHU. they started working out of the AIC: Atal Innovation Center inside BHU campus where startups get incorporated....

straight out of college in 2024, me & friend vishudh tried to build a hedge fund—or at least that’s what we called it because the dream was a real fund & eventually our own HFT ops someday. big ambition, we just wanted to dive in to work on this & not knowing SEBI regulations :)) it was february or march 2024. we had zero knowledge of financial regulations, compliances, any of that....

this contains my notes, me logging my thoughts on projects/goals/life etc as i go through them along the way. it would be edited constantly & the latest log would always be on top. 11jan25 i don’t have newyear resolution stuff (and my newyear is yet to come). i’m jotting down my immediate goals and starting the year with this energy. enough of learning from failures. i think this mindset being peddled is wrong....

i discuss my college project on using deep learning (notably, transformers’ flavours) for prediction of streamflow of river stream (here, hemavathi basin). the project involves rainfall, river streamflow & temperature data for the study area: hemavathi basin, kaveri river, karnataka, india. thanks to phd senior mukul sahu for arranging the data from India Metrological Department (IMD). The data consisted of daily data points from 2003-2020 with a total of 6575 rows each....

it was during mid-late 2023. with @sourav, i was trying for something to get off the ground. tried a prompts API marketplace, find here. got some traction but obviously no one would pay (not that i didn’t expect that completely) also tried to launch a better features chatgpt ui (it was very bad at that time). some guy on twitter launched it, was building fast & made profit, so honestly this is what i thought to replicate....

around 2021-2022, i first found blockchains and it was fascinating as a piece of technology to me and specially after you know the “satoshi lore”, how can one not be a fan? he singlehandely catalysed a financial change. bitcoin wasn’t created to create digital money and this isn’t what most people don’t understand, instead it came to exist naturally as part on how the system was architected. i’m open to learn whatever strikes my curiosity, so next thing i knew was heads down into blockchain papers....

the power and usecases of LLMs were evident when i used them. my friend and i were discussing legal arbitration issues in india because his dad had to oversee & help with documents for a few cases. it was clear that legal being the most text intensive text-in text-out business could leverage LLMs. so in mid-2023, i started skipping classes in learning all the ways to make this happen. also participated in buildspace to keep track & ship faster....

i often have periods of time where i doubt the very nature of ’life’ as we live. it happens at a weirdly strongly manner and i think too much on it (often). here, i ponder what the “why” of my life is. coming soon…
